The Technical University of Kenya (TU-K) is a public university located in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Technical University of Kenya (TU-K) has a rich and storied history, dating back to the early days of Kenya's independence. In the 1920s, there were heightened agitations for the expansion of access to higher education by indigenous leaders in the East African Territories. This led to the establishment of the Royal Technical College of East Africa (RTCEA) in 1956, which offered education and training at the technician and semi-professional levels for the three East African territories of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanganyika.
In 1961, the Kenya Polytechnic was founded, which offered a variety of technical and vocational courses. The Kenya Polytechnic was one of the first institutions of higher learning in Kenya to focus on technical education, and it played a vital role in the development of Kenya's skilled workforce.
In 2013, the Kenya Polytechnic was elevated to full university status, becoming the Technical University of Kenya. This was a significant milestone for the University, and it reflected its growing importance in Kenya's higher education system.
The University has a strong commitment to industry partnerships, and works closely with a number of Kenyan and international companies to provide its students with relevant skills and experience. TU-K graduates are in high demand among employers, and the University has a strong track record of producing successful entrepreneurs and innovators.
TU-K is a vibrant and diverse community, with students from all over Kenya and the world. The University has a strong focus on social and economic development, and is committed to producing graduates who can make a positive impact on society.
TU-K is a young university, but it has already made a significant impact on the higher education landscape in Kenya. The University is committed to providing its students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the global economy, and it is playing a vital role in the development of Kenya's skilled workforce.
