Gulf University for Science & Technology (GUST) is the first private university established in Kuwait

In the mid-1990s, a vision for a modern Kuwaiti university began to take shape. A group of prominent academics and businessmen, recognizing the burgeoning demand for quality education, conceived the "University of the Future." Their tireless efforts culminated in the formation of the Kuwaiti Academic Group (KAG) in 1997, laying the groundwork for what would become the Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST).

Extensive studies and collaborations led to the crystallization of KAG's vision in 2000. Emiri Decree No. 34 granted permission for establishment, and 2002 saw the official birth of GUST as the first private university in Kuwait. The temporary Hawally campus welcomed its inaugural class that same year, launching a new era in the country's educational landscape.
