Institut Koperasi Malaysia

Institut Koperasi Malaysia is a Malaysian government agency responsible for promoting and developing the cooperative movement in the country.

The history of the institute can be traced back to the establishment of the Cooperative Development Unit (CDU) in 1962, which was created to promote and develop the cooperative movement in Malaysia. This initiative aimed to address economic challenges and empower local communities through cooperative principles. In 1967, the CDU was upgraded to the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), and in 1972, it was renamed Institut Koperasi Malaysia (IKM). Under the leadership of the CDA and later IKM, the cooperative movement in Malaysia experienced significant growth. The institute played a crucial role in providing technical assistance, training, and education to cooperatives across various sectors.
