Chapingo Autonomous University
Chapingo Autonomous University (Universidad Autónoma Chapingo, UACH) is a public agricultural college located in Texcoco, Mexico State in Mexico. The university is a federally funded public institution of higher education.
The history of Chapingo Autonomous University dates back to 1854, when it was founded as the National School of Agriculture (Escuela Nacional de Agricultura). The school was initially located in Mexico City, but was moved to its current campus in Chapingo in 1923.
In its early years, the school offered only undergraduate programs in agricultural sciences. However, in 1959, it began offering graduate programs as well. In 1978, the school was granted autonomy and became Chapingo Autonomous University.
Since its founding, Chapingo Autonomous University has played a leading role in the development of agricultural education and research in Mexico. The university has been at the forefront of developing new agricultural technologies and promoting sustainable agriculture.
