University Ibn Zohr

Université Ibn Zohr (UIZ), also known as Ibn Zohr University, is a public university located in Agadir, Morocco.

The seeds of Université Ibn Zohr were sown in 1984 with the establishment of the Centre Régional Universitaire d'Agadir (CRUA) to address the growing educational needs of the Souss-Massa region. CRUA initially offered preparatory courses for students and gradually expanded its programs to include full-fledged university degrees.

In 1989, CRUA was officially recognized as Université Ibn Zohr, named after the renowned Andalusian scholar and physician, Avenzoar (Ibn Zuhr). The university began with three faculties: Science and Technology, Law and Economics, and Letters and Human Sciences. UIZ has faced its share of challenges, including limited resources, infrastructure constraints, and adapting to the Moroccan Higher Education Reform of 2003.

The university is actively involved in international collaborations and student exchange programs, preparing its graduates for success in a globalized world. UIZ looks forward to a bright future, continuing to play a vital role in education, research, and development in Morocco and beyond.
