Dhofar University

Dhofar University (DU) is a private university in Salalah, Dhofar Governorate, Oman.

Dhofar University (DU) was established in 2004 as the first private university in Oman to follow the American system of higher education. It was founded by a group of Omani businessmen and academics who were committed to providing the youth of Dhofar with access to quality higher education.

DU initially began operations on the premises of the National College for Science and Technology, which was officially incorporated into DU in 2004. The university's first batch of students enrolled in the fall of 2004.

In its early years, DU received academic and administrative support from the American University of Beirut (AUB). AUB benchmarked DU's academic programs and helped the university build its own administrative human resources.

DU has grown rapidly since its inception. In 2007, the university moved to its own permanent campus in Salalah. The campus is spread over a large area and has a seamless blend of both modern and traditional Omani architecture.

DU is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education in Oman and is a member of the Association of Arab Universities, the International Association of Universities, and the Global University Network for Innovation.

DU also has a strong international presence, with students from over 50 countries around the world.
