University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore

University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore (UET Lahore) is a public university located in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan, specializing in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects. It is the oldest and one of the most selective engineering institutions in Pakistan.

The history of the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore (UET Lahore) can be traced back to 1921, when it was founded as the Mughalpura Technical College. The college was established to meet the growing demand for skilled engineers in British India.

In 1923, the college was upgraded to the Punjab Engineering College and began offering a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. The college quickly gained a reputation for its high academic standards and its rigorous curriculum.

In 1947, at the time of independence, the Punjab Engineering College was partitioned into two colleges: the West Pakistan College of Engineering in Lahore and the East Punjab College of Engineering in Roorkee, India.

In 1962, the West Pakistan College of Engineering was granted charter and was named the West Pakistan University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore. In 1972, the university was renamed the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.

Over the years, UET Lahore has expanded its academic programs and facilities to meet the growing needs of the Pakistani engineering sector.

UET Lahore is also a leading center for engineering research in Pakistan. The university has over 23 research centers that are working on a variety of projects in collaboration with industry and government agencies.
