Northern University

NUniversity of the North (UniNorte) is a private university located in Asunción, Paraguay. It was founded in 1965 and is the fourth oldest university in the country.

In 1965, a group of visionary educators set out to establish an institution dedicated to academic excellence and cultural enrichment. Thus, the "Instituto Superior de Filosofía y Humanidades" (Higher Institute of Philosophy and Humanities) was born, sowing the seeds for what would become Universidad del Norte.

Over the next 26 years, the institute steadily grew, expanding its academic offerings and garnering respect within the Paraguayan educational landscape. Finally, in 1991, it proudly blossomed into the Universidad del Norte (UniNorte) through Decree No. 9689 of the Executive Power, solidifying its place as a leading private university in Paraguay.

UniNorte quickly established itself as a pioneer in various areas. It boasted the first Faculty of Postgraduate Studies in Paraguay, demonstrating its commitment to continuous learning and academic advancement. This dedication to postgraduate education continues to be a cornerstone of UniNorte's identity.

UniNorte distinguishes itself not only in academics but also in its vibrant cultural tapestry. It's the only university in Paraguay with its own orchestra, ballet company, and opera, nurturing artistic expression and enriching the community with a diverse range of performances.

Over the years, UniNorte has witnessed remarkable growth. Its campus in Villa Morra, Asunción, now encompasses 40 buildings, housing 23 research libraries, state-of-the-art laboratories and clinics, and modern classrooms. This expansion reflects the university's commitment to providing its students with the best possible learning environment.

Today, Universidad del Norte stands tall as a beacon of academic excellence, cultural vibrancy, and social responsibility. With its diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, commitment to research and innovation, and focus on holistic development, UniNorte is poised to continue shaping the future of Paraguayan education for generations to come.
