University of Kragujevac

The University of Kragujevac (Serbian: Универзитет у Крагујевцу, romanized: Univerzitet u Kragujevcu) is a public university in Kragujevac, Serbia.

The history of the University of Kragujevac dates back to 1838, when the Lyceum of the Principality of Serbia was established in Kragujevac. The Lyceum was the first higher education institution in Serbia, and it offered a three-year program in philosophy and mathematics.

In the early 20th century, a number of specialized schools were established in Kragujevac, including a teachers' college, a technical school, and a commercial school. In 1960, the Faculty of Engineering was established, and in 1961, the Faculty of Economics was established.

In 1976, the University of Kragujevac was formally established, incorporating the existing faculties and schools in Kragujevac.
