International Trade Institute of Southern Africa is a South African institution focused on international trade education and consulting.

The story of the International Trade Institute of Southern Africa (ITRISA) stretches back to the early 1980s, even before its official founding in 1996. This is when a group of forward-thinkers recognized the growing importance of international trade and the need for skilled professionals in the region. They embarked on a pioneering mission – establishing the very first structured trade training program in Southern Africa.

This wasn't just about creating courses; it was about gaining international recognition in a challenging time, the era of apartheid in South Africa. Despite the obstacles, ITRISA not only achieved international accreditation for their programs but also played a pivotal role in shaping the global system for accrediting international trade training. This speaks volumes about their dedication and expertise. The official establishment of ITRISA as a non-profit organization in 1996 marked a new chapter. They continued their focus on education, launching the first accredited qualification in exports – a 2-year Certificate in Export Practice – in 1987. This was followed by a 3-year Diploma in Export Management in 1989. These qualifications provided a structured path for individuals seeking careers in international trade.

ITRISA didn't stop there. Recognizing the need for ongoing learning and skills development, they expanded their offerings to include short courses and workshops. These cater to working professionals who require targeted knowledge on specific international trade topics. Today, ITRISA's reach extends beyond traditional classrooms.
