North-West University

North-West University is a public research university located on three campuses in Potchefstroom, Mahikeng and Vanderbijlpark in South Africa.

North-West University (NWU) rose in 2004, a symbol of reconciliation and progress in the post-apartheid South Africa. Its birth came through the merger of two distinct institutions: the historically black University of North-West (formerly the University of Bophuthatswana) and the historically white Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education.

This union was not merely an administrative change; it was a powerful statement of healing and shared purpose. The NWU inherited three campuses – Potchefstroom, Mahikeng, and Vanderbijlpark – each with its own unique legacy and traditions. Yet, they came together to form a unified academic powerhouse, offering a diverse range of programs across eight faculties.
