Konkuk University

Konkuk University stands as a respected private research university which operates its main campus in the Gwangjin district of Seoul and its GLOCAL campus in the mountainous area of Chungju. Dr. Yoo Seok-chang established the Social Medical Center in 1931 to treat underprivileged people during national difficulties which created the university's foundation. Dr. Yoo established the Chosun School of Politics in 1946 to educate future leaders who would help rebuild the country after Korea gained its independence. The institution expanded through various stages between the 1950s and 1959 when it moved to its present location in Mojin-dong and achieved full university status under its new name of Konkuk University. The institution transformed itself from a specialized educational facility into a leading academic institution which modernized its facilities and research facilities to fulfill the educational requirements of evolving social needs.
