Lund University is known as Lunds Universitet in its home in Lund, Skåne län, Sweden. It is home to more than 28,000 students who study in fields that include Geography, Accounting, Anthropology, Biology, Communication, Economics, Genetics, Humanities, Psychology, and Social Studies.
Founded in 1666, the school was begun as a way to 'Swedify' the students in the area, after it was taken over by the Swedish Crown. It is now the second oldest of Sweden's universities. The four faculties at the time of the founding were philosophy, medicine, theology, and law. It grew rapidly in the early years of the 20th century, and is a popular school for which many students apply.
Based on the QS World University Ranking of 2023, Lund University is positioned as the #95 top university in the world, which makes it the #2 top university in Sweden. The university's global rank decreased by 8 points from last year.
