University of Monastir

The University of Monastir (Arabic: جامعة المنستير), also known as UM, is a public multidisciplinary university located in Monastir, Tunisia.

The history of the University of Monastir can be traced back to the early 1980s, when the Tunisian government decided to create a new university in the city of Monastir. The university was officially founded in 1986 by Law No. 86-80 of August 9, 1986, and was initially known as the University of the Center.

In 1991, the university was reorganized by Decree No. 91-1991 of December 31, 1991, and became known as the University of Monastir. The university continued to grow and expand throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, and in 2004, it underwent a major reform of its higher education system.

Since its reform in 2004, the University of Monastir has continued to grow and develop.
