United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is a public research university located in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.
The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) was founded in 1976 by the country's first President, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Sheikh Zayed envisioned the UAEU as a flagship university that would contribute to the sustainable development of the United Arab Emirates.
The UAEU began operations in 1977 with 1,780 students and 176 faculty members. The university initially offered four programs: Arts and Humanities, Science, Engineering, and Education. Over the years, the UAEU has expanded its academic offerings to include a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in a variety of disciplines.
The UAEU has played a significant role in the development of the United Arab Emirates. The university has produced thousands of graduates who have gone on to hold leadership positions in government, business, and industry. The UAEU has also conducted groundbreaking research in areas of strategic importance to the country and the region.
In 1998, the UAEU established the Al Ain Aerospace Research and Technology Centre (AARTEC). AARTEC is a leading research center in the field of aerospace engineering. In 2010, the UAEU moved to a new state-of-the-art campus in Al Ain. The new campus is home to a variety of advanced facilities, including a nanotechnology research center, a supercomputer center, and a wind tunnel.
