Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College (ShSMC) is a public medical college and hospital located in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

In 1963, amidst the bustling heart of Dhaka, a monument to modern healthcare rose - Ayub Central Hospital, its geometric forms and sun-drenched courtyards designed by the visionary architect Louis I. Kahn. Eight years later, as Bangladesh emerged from the crucible of liberation, this beacon of healing was renamed Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital, honoring the nation's first Prime Minister for his unwavering commitment to public health.

The decades that followed saw the hospital grow to meet the burgeoning needs of its community. By 1997, new wings like the state-of-the-art cardiac unit and dedicated mother and child facility stood testament to its unwavering dedication to serving all. Yet, a deeper need arose – the need to nurture future generations of healers.

In 2005, a transformative decision was made. Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital would become a cradle of medical excellence, a full-fledged medical college. And so, in 2006, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College (ShSMC) opened its doors, ushering in a new era of healthcare education.
