Royal Institute of Management

The Royal Institute of Management (RIM) is a public institution of higher education located in Thimphu, Bhutan.

The Royal Institute of Management (RIM) in Bhutan was established in 1986 as the country's apex management training institute. It was incorporated as an autonomous institute in 1990 under the Royal Charter with a Board of Directors as its governing authority.

RIM was established in response to the growing need for qualified managers in Bhutan. The country was undergoing rapid economic and social development at the time, and there was a shortage of skilled professionals to manage the growing public and private sectors.

RIM's initial focus was on providing short-term training programs for government officials and managers in the private sector. However, the institute soon expanded its scope to offer longer-term programs, including a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program in 1996.

RIM has played a significant role in developing Bhutan's human capital. Its graduates have gone on to hold senior positions in government, business, and academia. RIM has also played a key role in promoting management research and best practices in Bhutan.

Royal Institute of Management is ranked as the #2 top university in Bhutan during 2025. This is the same rank as last year.
