The Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) is one of Germany's oldest universities. It was established in 1472, and in 1800 was moved to Landshut. Since the 19th century, it has been considered one of the most prestigious universities in Europe.
LMU offers a broad range of degree programs, and in keeping with its mandate of attracting international students, numerous courses are offered in English as well as German. LMU is part of the DFG (German Research Foundation) initiative in collaborative research, hosting 12 DFG training groups.
