Bocconi University

Bocconi University, established in Milan, Italy, is a private university.

The university was founded in 1902 by Ferdinando Bocconi, a wealthy businessman, in memory of his son Luigi, who died in the Battle of Adwa. It was the first institution of higher education in Italy to offer a degree in economics, which exemplified Ferdinando's dream of modernizing the Italian educational system to develop in line with a more changing world. The university began in Largo Notari (Piazza Statuto), but in 1941, the formal move to its current site near Parco Ravizza began. This move was the start of a new generation; the institution expanded its facilities and with it, a campus culture developed. The university has a long tradition of academic excellence and has been consistently ranked among the best universities in Italy and the world.
