Waseda University

Waseda University is a private research university in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan.

Waseda University was founded in 1882 by Ōkuma Shigenobu, a Japanese statesman who served as Prime Minister of Japan three times. Ōkuma was a visionary leader who believed that Japan needed a modern education system in order to compete with the Western powers.
