L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University

L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (ENU) is a Kazakh national research university, and the largest higher education institution in Astana.

L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (ENU) was founded on May 23, 1996, as a result of a merger of Akmola Civil Engineering Institute and Akmola Pedagogical Institute. It was named after Lev Gumilyov, a Soviet historian, ethnologist, and anthropologist, who was an early adherent of Eurasianism.

ENU was founded on the initiative of Nursultan Nazarbayev, the president of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on the basis of the idea of Eurasian Union. The university was established to train highly qualified specialists in a wide range of fields, and to conduct scientific research on Eurasian issues.
