University of Malaya (UM) is a public research university located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is the oldest and most prestigious university in Malaysia.
The University of Malaya (UM) was founded in 1949 as the merger of King Edward VII College of Medicine and Raffles College, both located in Singapore. In 1959, UM moved to its current location in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. UM became a fully autonomous university in 1962 and the national university of Malaysia in 1970.
Today, UM is ranked as one of the top universities in Asia and the world. It is a leading center of research and scholarship, with over 17,000 students and 3,000 faculty members.
