Delta State University, Abraka

Delta State University, Abraka is, thus, a public university in Abraka, Delta State, Nigeria.

In the colonial past, the university prides itself on its history as it gradually metamorphosed from being a Government Teachers' Training College. Granting it affiliation to the University of Benin in 1981 constituted a step to full academic independence. By 1992, it was able to extract full independence as a university and thus to grow into an excellent institution of higher learning. Since then, it has grown into one of the major centres of education and research contributing immensely to national development in Nigeria. Its main campus is in Abraka with a sub-campus at Oleh in response to the growing population of its student body. The E-learning center, student accommodations, and recreational sports facilities on campus offer enhanced opportunity for learning, innovation, and extracurricular activities.

The sub-campus furthers the aims of the University by admitting students coming from other fields of study and with diverse goals. Delta State University, Abraka is committed to quality teaching and penomial building on the path to its cultures oriented towards research and innovativeness. It takes, as it were, education in a wholistic manner: giving to students the right type of training for whichever vocation they aspire to. By this commitment, it has gained over the years accolades for excellence in academics and serious-minded training.
