Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) has a rich history that highlights its commitment to education and community development in the Laguna region. It originated from the Baybay Provincial High School, established in 1952, which was the first public high school in the Baybay District and the second in the entire province. This foundational period laid the groundwork for the institution's future evolution.

In 1957, the school transitioned into an agricultural institution, becoming the Baybay National Agricultural and Vocational School to meet the increasing demand for agricultural education. This change reflected the region's needs and set the stage for further development. By 1971, the school had upgraded to the Baybay National College of Agriculture and Technology (BNCAT), expanding its academic focus and introducing more specialized programs in agriculture and technology.

The significant transformation occurred in 1983 when BNCAT was designated as Laguna State Polytechnic College (LSPC), transitioning into a state college. This change marked an expansion of academic offerings beyond agriculture, reflecting the evolving educational landscape. Finally, in 1993, LSPC achieved university status, becoming Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU), which allowed the institution to offer a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate programs.

Today, LSPU stands as a leading educational institution in the Philippines, renowned for its focus on agriculture, technology, and education.
