University of the Cordilleras

University of the Cordilleras, formerly known as the Baguio Colleges Foundation (BCF), is a private coeducational university in Baguio, Philippines.

The university was founded in 1946 by a couple named Benjamin R. Salvosa and Evangelina D. Salvosa, who envisioned a place where aspiring educators could receive quality training. They started with a small group of 156 students who were interested in teacher training and liberal arts, laying the groundwork for what would become a vital educational institution. The university was initially known as the Baguio Colleges Foundation (BCF), reflecting its commitment to the local community.

In the early years, the university focused on providing quality education to students from the surrounding region. It was the first higher learning institution in Baguio City after World War II, and it quickly became a popular choice for students seeking a good education, offering a safe haven for learning during a time of rebuilding. As a result, the university attracted not only local students but also those from other provinces, eager for a reputable educational experience.

As the university grew, it expanded its academic offerings to include a wider range of programs, adapting to the changing demands of society. In 1994, the university achieved university status and was renamed the University of the Cordilleras (UC), reflecting its broader mission to serve the diverse needs of the Cordillera region.
