Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique de Dakar

Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique de Dakar (ESP) is a professional training school located in Dakar, Senegal.

The ESP's story starts in May 1964, when it was established as the "Institut Polytechnique (IP)" under the vision of fostering skilled professionals in critical technical fields. This marked a crucial step in Senegal's pursuit of post-independence development, recognizing the need for homegrown expertise in engineering and applied sciences. In November 1967, the IP underwent its first metamorphosis, transitioning into the "Institut Universitaire de Technologie (IUT)." This shift aligned the institution with a broader focus on practical, job-oriented education within the Senegalese university system.

The year 1994 witnessed another significant milestone with the passage of Law N° 94-78. This legislation officially transformed the IUT into the present-day "Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique (ESP)" and laid the groundwork for its further expansion. The ESP absorbed the "Ecole Nationale Supérieure Universitaire de Technologie (ENSUT)," the "Ecole Polytechnique de Thiès (EPT)," and the industrial section of the "Ecole Normale Supérieure d'Enseignement Technique et Professionnel (ENSETP)." This consolidation solidified the ESP's position as a comprehensive institution encompassing a diverse range of engineering and technological disciplines.
