Pohang University of Science and Technology (포항공과대학교) is located in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea. Their acronym is POSTECH. They have over 3200 students and more than 250 staff members. Their major fields of study include physics, life science, chemistry, mathematics, engineering and social sciences. The school was founded in 1986.
Pohang University was founded by a CEO of a major company, POSCO, which worked with iron and steel. The founding president, Dr. Hogil Kim, styled the collage after California’s Institute of Technology. The first class of students in 1987 required only four dorm buildings, but the college has grown much, since that humble beginning.
