Omdurman Islamic University
Omdurman Islamic University is a public university located in Omdurman, Sudan.
Omdurman Islamic University traces its roots back to the early 20th century when a group of Sudanese scholars established the Omdurman Scientific Institute in 1912. The institute was primarily focused on Islamic studies, but it also offered courses in Arabic language and literature, mathematics, and science. In 1965, the institute was upgraded to a full-fledged university and renamed Omdurman Islamic University. The university expanded its programs and established a number of research centers and institutes in the 1970s. In the 1980s, the university became a member of the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World (FUIW) and established a medical school and a hospital. The university continued to grow and develop in the 1990s, and it established a faculty of engineering and a faculty of science.
In the 2000s and 2010s, the university continued to expand its programs and facilities. The university also played an active role in promoting Islamic culture and education in Sudan and around the world. Omdurman Islamic University has played a significant role in Sudanese society since its establishment in 1965. The university has educated thousands of students who have gone on to become leaders in government, business, and academia.
