Johns Hopkins University, also called simply “Johns Hopkins”, is located in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Their acronym is JHU. The school was established in 1876 and offers doctorate programs in astronomy, archaeology, anthropology, biology and cellular biology. Masters degrees include administration, arts, astronomy, biology and biotechnology.

JHU is a pioneer in research universities, and the NSF (National Science Foundation) ranks it as #1 among United States schools in medical, engineering and science research. The school’s namesake is a Quaker entrepreneur who gave seven million dollars upon his death to fund a university and hospital. The school was named for him.
