Northwestern University is located in Evanston, Illinois, USA. Its acronym is simply NU. It serves over 18,000 students, both undergraduates and those in post-graduate studies. Northwestern was founded in 1851 by members who were affiliated with the local Methodist Episcopal Church. Although they were religious, they deemed that their admissions would remain non-sectarian. They wanted the school to serve all the people who lived in this newly developed territory.
