The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is a public research university with multiple campuses located throughout the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas. Established in 1927 as Edinburg College, it underwent various name changes before becoming the University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) in 1989. In 2015, UTPA merged with the University of Texas at Brownsville to form the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). UTRGV has quickly become a prominent institution in the region.
