Women's University in Africa is a private institution of higher learning located in Harare, Zimbabwe.
It was established in 2002 in pursuit of women's empowerment through higher education and enabling personal and professional development opportunities. A private, non-profit institution, it was to address historical exclusion faced by women as a barrier to their access into higher education. It was chartered in 2004 by the Zimbabwe government, with a recognition of the institution as a center of academic excellence. Its founding was a major development for gender equity and for the promotion of education as an instrument of societal transformation. Located in Harare, Zimbabwe, it also has satellite campuses around the country with the intention of wider access to its programs.
