Zimbabwe This country has great values for higher education. The ministry of Education is responsible for the regulation of academic activities. Robert Mugabe’s administration has declared education as the basic and fundamental human right. This is why public schools enjoy virtually free education. Most of the rich people send their children to private universities. Zimbabwe is one of the best in the provision of academic empowerment to foreign and local students in Africa. The literacy level is about 90%. Tuition fees are comparatively very low in public schools. There are 18 public universities, 26 private universities and other research institutes, and colleges. The primary language of instructions is Shona, Ndebele, and English. Foreign students are expected to know at least one local language so as to communicate well with the indigenes. There are some work opportunities for graduates, though foreign students need work permits.
