Cabrini University

Cabrini University was a private Catholic university located in Radnor, Pennsylvania, within the Philadelphia Main Line suburbs. Founded by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the institution was dedicated to the "Education of the Heart," a philosophy that combined academic excellence with social justice and community service. Known for its picturesque campus and intimate learning environment, Cabrini served as a premier destination for students seeking a liberal arts education grounded in Catholic social teaching.

The university was founded in 1957 as Cabrini College by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, led by Mother Ursula Infante. It was named in honor of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini (Mother Cabrini), the first American citizen to be canonized and the patron saint of immigrants. Originally a college for women, it transitioned to a coeducational model in 1970. In 2016, the institution achieved university status, reflecting its expanded graduate and doctoral offerings. However, following several years of financial challenges, the university officially reached an agreement in 2023 to be acquired by Villanova University. Cabrini University ceased its academic operations in June 2024, and the campus is currently being integrated into Villanova’s footprint.
