Calvin University

Calvin University is a private, coeducational Christian university located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It is affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA) and is deeply committed to integrating faith and learning across all disciplines. It was named after the 16th-century Protestant Reformer John Calvin. The liberal arts college division was formally established in 1894 to serve the broader educational needs of the Reformed community. Originally situated downtown, the institution moved to its current, much larger campus location in 1960. It operated as Calvin College for most of its history before officially attaining university status in 2019, a name change that better reflected the breadth and sophistication of its graduate programs and international reach.
