Florida Institute of Technology (often referred to as Florida Tech) is a private research university located in Melbourne, Florida, situated along the Space Coast. Classes were initially held at a local junior high school before the institution moved to its current residential campus. It was renamed Florida Institute of Technology in 1966 to reflect its expanding curriculum and mission.
