Marshall University was founded in 1837 as a public research university in Huntington, West Virginia. It offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a range of academic disciplines, including the arts and media, business, health sciences, engineering, and liberal arts. Marshall University also promotes academic quality, research, and community involvement as part of a mission of service. Marshall University gained national attention with the tragedy of the plane crash and some died in the plane crash in 1970, that killed many members of the football team and this was to be further popularized in the movie "We Are Marshall."
