The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (U of A SAS), chartered in 1879, is the only academic health sciences university in Arkansas providing core degrees (medicine, nursing, pharmacy) as well as graduate programs in Public Health & Health Professions. U of A is widely known for its total scope of health care services (including the UAMS Medical Center, the state's largest hospital and a network of clinics throughout Arkansas).Completed. UAMS is also a major producer of biomedical research, with faculty studying major medical diseases including cancer, neuroscience and aging.
