The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is also called UNC, UNC-Chapel Hill, or simply Chapel Hill. It is located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA. The college hosts nearly 30,000 students who can choose from studies including Liberal Arts, English, History, Biology, Business Administration, and Mathematics.

UNC was chartered in 1789 as one of the oldest public colleges in the US. Unlike most schools in the Confederate States, UNC stayed open during the Civil War. But the town lost a larger percentage of its people than any other Southern village. The university closed in 1870 and would not open again until 1875.
